Hey Jona!

Was hältst du davon? + Welche Bücher liest du gerade so, has du eine Empfehlung?

PS: Ich bin gerade auch wieder in Deutschland, also Grüße aus Deutschland zurück an dich ;)

For everyone who doesn't speak German, here's the convo translation:

Finn's Comment:

Hey Jona!

I found your YouTube channel via your video on Obsidian and just wanted to say that I really like your content.

Since you read a lot of books that I also like very much, have you ever thought about making your Vault public?

Best wishes from Germany and good luck with your courses at Macalester College!

My reply:

Hey Finn! Glad to hear you enjoyed the Obsidian video! I don't think I will publish my Vault because I write about people from my private life in many of the notes...

BUT I was actually thinking about changing my newsletter from the “life update style” to “Jona's Library” and sending out detailed notes about the books I'm reading every two weeks.

What do you think? + What books are you currently reading, do you have a recommendation?

PS: I'm back in Germany right now, so greetings from Germany back to you ;)

And if you want to bring a little bit more efficiency into your workflow, especially for learning… I thought I’d give back as I learned from your videos a good bit.

Combine spaced repetition systems (great software is Anki, which is free and widely used, essentially fancy flashcards “Karteikarten” - to tickle out the last bit of efficiency on the recall rate on the Ebbinghaus Curve look into a FSRS Algorithm instead of SuperMemo for Anki) into obsidian with a plug-in called Anki Obsidian (or something like that)… maybe I’ll do a blog or YouTube channel too as you inspired me to. Definitely keep up the great content. I will read and watch what you churn out to stay on top of things.

Reading notes would make for some awesome Content. I also want to study business psychology (Wirtschaftspsychologie) at some point. Something that is irrelevant for that and that I just read is Thinking, Fast and Slow by Kahneman. If you haven’t read it yet despite its popularity, I highly recommend it. Before that, I read Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke. Especially on owning your own mental real estate and addiction to social media or other drugs, this is a recent bestseller and a must read. I read most books in English too. Which were Robert Greene spoke beforehand the psychology of money and books on game theory, cognition psychology, history and business. So lots of specialized psychology and philosophy books as well as learning and didactic methods.

Thanks so much for the input, Finn! I conducted a small psych experiment on System 1 & System 2 thinking back in India, so I probably got most of the contents of Kahneman's book by doing that. A friend has the book lying around, though, so I might read it one day ;)

I'd love to see you start your own channel! Let me know if you ever have any questions or need a helping hand in getting started. I've got you.

Glad to have you here and looking forward to hearing more from you,

Jona

I seem to like your longer, in-depth videos. I don’t care for background music or complex editing (I think it would be distracting). Since I’m always curious about what I see people reading, I like your book reviews.
